A surprise in Basel: Eurovision 2025 is set to be packed with stars! Which artists will participate in the upcoming Eurovision?

Eurovision 2025 is rapidly approaching, and with each passing day, exciting details are being revealed about beloved past artists returning to the grand celebration. One of the major surprises is the participation of Jamala, the Eurovision 2016 winner for Ukraine with the song “1944”, who announced that she will also take part this year – though her specific role remains unclear.

What Did the Eurovision Winner Say About the Eurovision 2025 Representatives?

In an interview, Jamala shared her impressions of the song representing Ukraine this year, “Bird of Prey” by the band Ziferblat: “It’s a great song, I really love the guys – they are very musical and perform their song excellently. The artists are very European and I love that. I will support them. May God give them the strength to deliver everything on stage,” said the famous Eurovision winner.

More Performances: Jørgen Olsen Returns to the Big Stage

Additional details revealed in recent days indicate that Jamala won’t be the only star this year. The Swiss national broadcaster, SRG SSR, published a video on its official Instagram page revealing that Jørgen Olsen, member of the Olsen Brothers and Denmark’s Eurovision 2000 winner, will also participate in one of the interval acts at Eurovision 2025.

This move continues the trend of featuring beloved past artists, strengthening the sense of nostalgia and adding depth to the competition’s main show.

The Roop Finally Ignite the Stage

In another video released by SRG SSR, members of the Lithuanian band The Roop, who were supposed to represent their country at Eurovision 2020 with the song “On Fire,” excitedly announced: “Hey, we are The Roop from Lithuania, so excited to finally bring ‘On Fire’ to the big Eurovision 2025 stage, after all these years it’s finally happening. See you in May.”

This thrilling announcement was warmly embraced by the fan community, eagerly awaiting the live performance on stage.

Nemo Back on Stage – But Why Exactly?

As previously reported, it was announced that Nemo, who won Eurovision 2024 for Switzerland, will appear as a guest artist during the 2025 contest. However, it was not clarified in which specific broadcast his performance would take place – whether during the Grand Final, as winning artists have typically done in recent years, or possibly during one of the Semi-Finals.

At the Eurovision party held in Amsterdam, Nemo addressed the question and confirmed that he is expected to perform live during the Grand Final broadcast.

Switzerland Celebrates Its Eurovision Legacy

Eurovision 2025, to be held at the St. Jakobshalle arena in Basel, will include not only Nemo’s performance, but also additional exciting interval acts featuring Swiss artists from past contests.

One of the Semi-Finals will feature a special collaborative performance from several iconic Swiss Eurovision representatives. According to the Swiss national broadcaster’s official press conference, Paola (Switzerland 1969 and 1980), Peter, Sue & Marc (1971, 1976, 1979, 1981), Luca Hänni (2019), and Gjon’s Tears (2020 and 2021) will all take the stage together for a moving medley celebrating Switzerland’s longstanding contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Efendi to Make a Surprise Comeback

Another unexpected treat for Eurovision viewers: Efendi, who represented Azerbaijan in Eurovision 2021, will return to the Eurovision stage this year as part of the guest performances. While no further information has been provided regarding the content of her appearance, her comeback alone has stirred considerable excitement among fans, highlighting the producers’ desire to include nostalgic and diverse performances in this year’s show.

A Show Rich in Historical Depth and Present Promises

The return of Nemo alongside other Eurovision winners is another testament to the growing tradition of Eurovision winners continuing to collaborate with the contest even after their victories. It creates a bridge between generations, connecting historical Eurovision highlights with today’s stages.

Eurovision 2025 promises to be a true celebration. The link between past and present, beloved songs and familiar faces, reminds us all that Eurovision is not just a competition – it is also one big musical family.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Switzerland’s 65th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Switzerland joined the competition in 1956, being one of the seven founding countries, and has won three times over the years. Its most recent victory was at the last Eurovision in 2025, with Nemo’s song “The Code.” This win follows Switzerland’s previous victory in 1988 with the song “Ne partez pas sans moi,” performed by international singer Céline Dion.
