Ireland’s Eurovision 2025 representative, EMMY held her first rehearsal in Basel with the song “Laika Party”. Stay tuned for all updates from Switzerland.

EMMY, Ireland’s representative, is the third act to rehearse today on the Eurovision 2025 stage with her song “Laika Party“. EMMY will perform as song number 3 in the second semi-final, scheduled for May 15th.

Since EMMY’s victory on The Late Late Show Eurosong Special, her performance has undergone a significant transformation. The original silver playsuit has been swapped for a metallic silver dress with a pleated skirt, complemented by silver boots and a helmet-like hood. EMMY begins her act illuminated on a metallic platform resembling a lunar module, joined by her brother Erland on keyboards, who sports a shiny silver shirt and his signature star-shaped sunglasses. Four female dancers, dressed in silver pants and black-silver vests, execute a highly synchronized routine during each chorus

Enhanced Choreography and Staging

While the energy and spirit from Ireland’s national final remain, the choreography and staging have become much more refined. The most notable upgrade is the use of neon lighting and LED screens. Instead of floating bones, the visuals now feature animated neon planets and marching space dogs during the “bam bam” sections. The main LED screen displays a constellation forming Laika’s shape out of stars during the chorus, adding an emotional touch to the performance.

Pyrotechnic Finale

In the final chorus, the show escalates with prominent firework jets, creating a celebratory, party-like atmosphere in the arena.

The photos from the rehearsal will be updated later.

Ireland in Eurovision 2025

Laika Party” is the title of the song to be performed by EMMY, who will represent Ireland at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The song was co-written by the singer along with Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Henrik Østlund, Larissa Tormey, and Truls Marius Aarra. This marks the first Eurovision entry for the other songwriters. The song is performed in English.

The song tells the story of Laika, the first dog in space, imagining for her eternal life and a perpetual party in the skies. The song portrays Laika as a heroic figure who made an important contribution to humanity by her journey into space. It expresses appreciation and love for the dog sent on an unknown space mission and never returned. It conveys a longing and a wish that she is still alive, roaming space, and enjoying eternal positive experiences. In the chorus, there is a feeling of hope and a wish that Laika continues to live a joyful life in space, participating in an endless party among the stars. The song attempts to give a positive image to the character of Laika and invites the listeners to share the sense of wonder and admiration for human achievements in space exploration, while raising questions about the moral cost of such experiments.

Currently, Ireland is ranked 19th on the betting odds ahead of Eurovision 2025.
