Josephine says she plans to submit a song to Sing For Greece 2027 after years of Eurovision speculation.

Greek pop superstar Josephine has revealed that, after many years of flirting with the Eurovision Song Contest, she may finally submit a song to “Sing For Greece 2027”, the national selection that will determine Greece’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.

In an interview on the Greek television program “After Dark”, the Greek pop star discussed the possibility of representing either Greece or Cyprus at Eurovision 2027.

To the surprise of many fans, she responded:

“I will submit a song to ‘Sing For Greece’ in order to represent Greece at Eurovision 2027.”

According to the singer, the public would support her candidacy.

Josephine also revealed that her potential Eurovision entry would be “dynamic and representative of me.” In addition, she stated that she has no particular preference regarding which country she would represent and would be happy to compete for either Greece or Cyprus at Eurovision.

Josephine – Who are You?

The Greek singer Josephine, whose full name is Jessica Josephine Wendel, was born on August 22nd, 1990, in Athens, Greece. Josephine is considered one of Greece’s biggest pop stars and has scored numerous successful hits, including “Ego”, which reached the top of the Greek charts.

Her connection to Eurovision dates back more than a decade. In 2014, she competed alongside Greek DJ Mark Angelo in the Greek national selection “Greece Eurosong 2014” with the song “Dancing Night”. Unfortunately for the singer, the entry finished fourth in the competition.

Josephine has also reportedly made several attempts behind the scenes to reach the Eurovision stage. She has publicly expressed her Eurovision ambitions on multiple occasions over the years, although her name never emerged among the candidates considered during Greece’s recent internal selections.

In 2026, Josephine was reportedly among the final names considered during Cyprus’ internal selection process for Eurovision. However, Antigoni was ultimately chosen to represent the island nation at Eurovision 2026 instead.

Third Time’s a Charm?

The Greek national final “Sing for Greece” is considered a significant springboard for Greece. The new national final, which selected the Greek entries for the past two years, brought high achievements to the country. Klavdia represented Greece at Eurovision 2025 with the song “Asteromata” (in English: “Starry Eyes”) and finished in sixth place, and a year later, Akylas and the song “Ferto” (in English: “Bring It”) also managed to bring Greece to tenth place – will Greece manage to bring another hit to the upcoming contest? If we rely on the achievements of the songs chosen so far – it seems that Greece is aiming high and planning to stay strongly in the picture.

Eurovision 2027: This will be Greece’s 47th participation in Eurovision. Greece joined the competition in 1974 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2005 when singer Helena Paparizou won first place with the song “My Number One”.
