The communications department of the Slovenian national broadcaster RTV SLO confirmed exclusively that the country’s participation in Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria is being reexamined and seriously considered at this time.
According to the national broadcaster’s statement, RTV SLO’s 2027 program and production plan will play a central role in the final decision. The decision on whether to submit an official registration form to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will take into account both the final registration deadline set by the EBU and the national broadcaster’s overall broadcast plans for the upcoming year.
Political Shift: From Boycott and Propaganda Broadcasts to a Pro-Israel Government
As recalled, Slovenia was one of five countries that decided to withdraw from Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, in protest over Israel’s participation in the contest and amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. RTV SLO’s protest measures even escalated when the national broadcaster chose not to air the live contest broadcasts at all, instead broadcasting a series of programs during Eurovision week focusing on Palestinian culture and analyzing the regional political situation.
