Lithuanian national broadcaster LRT confirms participation in Eurovision 2027, joining a growing list of confirmed participating nations

The Lithuanian national broadcaster LRT has confirmed Lithuania’s participation in Eurovision 2027, which will be held in Bulgaria. With this announcement, Lithuania joins a growing list of countries that have already confirmed their participation in the competition. Among the nations set to participate in Eurovision 2027 are Austria, Bulgaria (the host country), Canada (competing for the first time), Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Norway, Romania, San Marino, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

The Baltic country will likely choose its Eurovision representative once again through its national selection EUROVIZIJA.LT, the traditional selection process that has become its primary selection path in recent years. In 2026, 40 artists competed across five qualifying heats, culminating in the selection of Lion Ceccah with the song “Sólo quiero más” to represent Lithuania at Eurovision in Vienna. At the contest itself, Lithuania managed to qualify for the grand final from eighth place in the first semi-final, but ultimately finished in 22nd place in the grand final with just 22 points.

Lithuania at Eurovision: Between Challenges and Sporadic Success

It appears that opting for the national selection “Eurovizija.LT” brings mixed results for Lithuania’s performance at the contest. On one hand, Lithuania maintains relative stability in its placements, but looking at the last three years, a decline in results is noticeable: Silvester Belt finished in 14th place at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Luktelk“, a drop of three places from the previous year; a year later, the band Katharsis and the song “Tavo Akys” finished in 16th place, down two more spots; and as mentioned, in 2026, Lion Ceccah reached 22nd place in the competition. Since Lithuania began selecting its entries through this platform, the use of the Lithuanian language at the contest has increased, allowing the country to showcase its culture in an authentic and unique manner.

Lithuania began its journey at Eurovision facing its share of difficulties – the nation was absent from the contest six times, in 1995–1998, 2000, and 2003. Although it has never won the contest and has never reached the top five, Lithuania has managed to reach the top ten on three occasions: sixth place in 2006, eighth in 2021, and ninth in 2016. Across its 26 appearances, Lithuania has established itself as a consistent competitor, even if not a leader in terms of top-table results.
