Luxembourg’s national broadcaster RTL has announced the jury panel for the upcoming Eurovision national final, featuring experienced Eurovision personalities.
Luxembourg is set to make its mark on Eurovision 2025 with a national selection process that promises to showcase the best of the country’s musical talent. The “Luxembourg Song Contest 2025” is shaping up to be an exciting event, with the list of participating artists scheduled to be revealed on November 18th, and the final selection of Luxembourg’s representative to take place on January 25th.
Today, Luxembourg’s national broadcaster RTL announced the composition of the jury panel that will play a crucial role in selecting the country’s representative for Eurovision 2025, set to take place in Basel, Switzerland, in May. The jury consists of five individuals with significant Eurovision experience, ensuring a knowledgeable and discerning selection process.
Meet the Jury
The professional jury includes well-known names in the Eurovision community, mostly comprised of past winners, but also featuring a former producer of the competition and a renowned singer who placed in the top 5. The jury members are:
- Poli Genova: Represented Bulgaria in Eurovision 2011 and 2016, also hosted Junior Eurovision in 2015.
- Eldar Gasimov: Won Eurovision 2011 for Azerbaijan as part of the duo Ell & Nikki.
- Marie Myriam: Winner of Eurovision 1977 for France.
- Diogo Fernandes: Co-producer of Eurovision 2018, with experience in producing The Voice and artist management.
- Niamh Kavanagh: Represented Ireland in Eurovision 1993 and 2010, winning in 1993.
A Diverse Pool of Talent
This year’s contest will feature 53 artists from 12 different nationalities, performing no less than 79 original songs. The jury panel, with its collective Eurovision expertise, is expected to make the crucial decision on which song will have the opportunity to bring Luxembourg back to the Eurovision spotlight.
The Selection Process
Between November 8th and 10th, the 53 artists will be evaluated by the professional jury at the “Rockahl” hall in Luxembourg City, which will host the national selection for the second consecutive year. Notably, about 75% of the 79 submitted songs were written in collaboration with Luxembourgish creators, with 70% of the songs involving the candidates themselves in the writing process.
The Grand Finale
The “Luxembourg Song Contest” will take place on January 25th at the Rockhal concert hall in Esch-Sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. This second edition of the national final will maintain last year’s format, featuring live performances in front of an audience. The winner will be determined by a combination of jury votes (50%) and public votes (50%), deciding who will represent Luxembourg in Basel.
