The host of the Italian Eurovision national final, Carlo Conti, reveals: 20 artists have already been chosen for the Sanremo Festival 2025, and this year controversial topics will remain outside.
The host of the Italian Eurovision national final, Carlo Conti, revealed new details about the songs that will participate in the Sanremo Festival 2025 during a podcast he was interviewed for. Among the new details, Conti revealed that 20 artists have already been chosen to participate for certain in the upcoming festival and the lyrics of the songs will not include controversial topics such as immigration or war.
Conti has already mentioned in the past that the number of artists participating in the Sanremo Festival will increase from the original plan and will include over 24 artists. Today, Conti declares that over 24 artists will take part in the festival this year and that he already knows about 20 artists who will participate for certain. We remind you that although the list of participants is expected to be published on Sunday, December 1st at 12:30 CET, no official confirmations have yet been received from artists regarding participation in the festival.
The podcast also mentioned that there have been changes regarding the topics that the songs will deal with. Unlike previous years where it was possible to write songs about controversial topics, this year the Sanremo Festival is expected to focus on more intimate and personal topics. According to Conti:
“It’s no longer a macro world, they [the songs] don’t talk about immigration or war, but return to talking about the micro world, about family, about personal relationships.”
In addition, Conti mentioned several more names of well-known artists in the Italian music industry who are expected to take part in the festival such as Al Bano Carrisi and younger singers like Fedez and Tony Effe who came up as candidates for a possible duet with Emis Killa. Conti also declared that the number of female singers participating in the festival is larger this year compared to previous years. The name of one of the participants that came up was the Italian rapper Anna. In the spirit of the extensive participation of rappers in the festival, Conti also responded in the interview to possible controversies regarding the lyrics of the songs in the competition:
“I’m not afraid of controversies. However, I can say that even the rappers brought things that are aimed at pop. They are evolving, they didn’t bring aggressive things and I heard things that are not banal at all.”
