The Polish national broadcaster, TVP, has completed the audition stage of its Eurovision selection process, where the winner will represent the country at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
The first stage of auditions for the Polish Eurovision selection has concluded, as announced by the Polish national broadcaster. About a month and a half ago, TVP confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2025, to be held in Basel, Switzerland. Unlike last year, when the representative was chosen through an internal committee, it was decided to use a national selection process. The rules for the Polish selection were developed by the OGAE Poland community in collaboration with artists, Polish record companies, composers, and music producers. This decision came after criticism of TVP in 2023 for conducting a “superficial” national selection while retaining the power of choice for itself.
From the array of artists who submitted songs during the submission window, the top 25 were selected by a TVP committee. These artists were invited to perform and be evaluated by a judging panel in closed-door sessions at TVP’s studio in Warsaw.
Among the well-known artists mentioned by many Eurovision fans as potential candidates for the Polish selection are past participants Isabel Oterbus, Poland’s representative at Eurovision 1995 Justyna Steczkowska, Kuba Szmajkowski, Daria, and Margaret, who is primarily active in Sweden and has even participated in the local Eurovision selection there.
The artists who pass the lengthy audition process are expected to be revealed on January 14th. The Polish representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel will be chosen on February 14th solely by the public, in a national selection event to be held at the Polish national broadcaster’s headquarters in Warsaw.
