Louane has been chosen to represent France at Eurovision 2025, set to take place in Basel, Switzerland. Her song will be announced sometime soon. Here are the full details.

The national broadcaster, France 2, announced that singer Louane has been selected to represent France at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The selection was made internally by the local broadcasting network. The song for the competition is expected to be revealed in an unknown date. Louane is the ninth artist confirmed to participate in Eurovision 2025!

Just moments ago, we reported that the prestigious French newspaper “Le Parisien” disclosed this evening that Louane is the favored choice of the French national broadcaster. The newspaper also noted that this announcement would only come after the Italian pre-Eurovision event, “Sanremo Festival 2025,” and the Swedish pre-Eurovision event, “Melodifestivalen 2025,” which are crucial in the preparations for Eurovision. However, the singer surprised the public when she posted on Instagram, which was shared by the French national broadcaster on their official Instagram account, where she stated in her own voice that she would represent France at Eurovision 2025:

The singer sparked considerable speculation among Eurovision fans when she decided, in an unusual move, to cancel all her performances specifically in April and May 2025. This action led to many rumors about Louane’s potential selection to represent France at Eurovision 2025. It is important to emphasize that the Eurovision is expected to take place in May, while many artists dedicate their time in April to preparations and rehearsals for the competition. Louane‘s move mirrors the steps taken by La Zarra and Slimane in the last two editions of the contest. This also corresponds with the French strategy in the past two years of selecting a very well-known singer internally to achieve better results for France in the competition.

The artist responded to the rumors last October, stating that contrary to the rumors, she would not participate in this year’s Eurovision. She added in her response: “It’s flattering that people think so highly of me, especially since I always watched it with my mom.” She noted that her new album is currently her top priority but added a hint of hope by saying, “Why not one day” for future participation in Eurovision.

In an official Instagram post published this evening by the singer, she is heard saying, as if speaking to her mother:

“I remember all those parties, the sparkles in my eyes every year. We couldn’t miss that for anything in the world. You told me so. You said it at one point. We were light years away from imagining that it was possible. But you dreamed of it. I dreamed of it too. Of that life. Of that moment. You dreamed of seeing me there, mom. Without knowing that it could happen one day. I’m sure you’re proud that you’re watching from afar. So you know what? I’m going to do it for us. I’m going to do it for our dreams. I’m going to represent France at Eurovision.”

Following the official announcement this evening, France jumped to 6th place in the betting odds but only with a 3% chance of winning.
