The Israeli entry for Eurovision 2025, to be performed by Yuval Raphael, will be selected soon. It has now been revealed that Israel‘s 2024 representative, Eden Golan, has submitted a song to the selection committee. Read on for all the details!
Dozens of creators were invited to submit a song for Yuval Raphael, who is expected to perform at the Eurovision 2025 semi-finals on May 15 in Basel, Switzerland, hoping to secure Israel‘s fifth win. The deadline for submissions was yesterday, February 2. According to reports, among the artists approached were Keren Peles and Avi Ohayon, Yasmin Moallem, Odia, Osher Cohen, Ron Biton, Ofir Cohen, and many others. Also, Asaf Amdursky, a judge on “HaKokhav HaBa,” appears to have been invited to submit a song and revealed to us his plans to do so. The song’s name and its creators are expected to be revealed on March 9 in a special broadcast on “Kan 11.”
It was revealed that Eden Golan, Israel‘s representative at Eurovision 2024, submitted a song to the Israeli selection committee, together with Stav Beger, who collaborated with Eden last year on “Hurricane,” and also on the Eurovision 2018 winner, “Toy,” by Netta Barzilai!
The Selection Process
Over 50 songs written for Yuval Raphael by dozens of creators were submitted to the committee for selecting the song for Eurovision. The Israeli entry is expected to be chosen soon by a committee that will listen to the submissions anonymously, without knowing the creators behind each song. At the end of the session, a secret vote will be held by committee members to choose the song that will represent Israel at Eurovision 2025. The chosen song, approved by the legal advisor on behalf of the corporation, will be submitted to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for official approval. It’s worth noting that last year, the EBU required changes to the submitted song due to references to October 7, which were contrary to the competition’s regulations, stating the song should not engage in “political” topics.
The Big Reveal
The song will be revealed on Sunday, March 9th, in a festive announcement broadcast on Kan 11, Kan Gimel, Kan BOX, and Kan’s digital platforms. Following the song’s selection, Yuval Raphael is expected to record her version of the chosen song. In the coming weeks, the official music video for the song will be shot and revealed on the evening of the announcement.
Leading Candidates
Among the prominent candidates invited by the committee to write the Israeli song for Eurovision 2025:
- Keren Peles and Avi Ohayon: The two creators who collaborated last year with Eden Golan on “Hurricane,” which led Israel to fifth place in the grand final of Eurovision 2024, are back this year to propose a new work. They are expected to submit a song that represents Israeli music on the international stage and tries to replicate last year’s success.
- Asaf Amdursky: In an interview we conducted during the final evening of “HaKokhav HaBa,” Amdursky, a veteran judge and creator, revealed his plans to submit a song that would particularly suit Yuval Raphael. The successful creator shared with us in an exclusive interview: “There’s something I’d love to hear her sing.”
- Ofir Cohen: One of the country’s most renowned music creators, recently made headlines due to a song competing in the Icelandic Eurovision pre-selection that was allegedly copied from his work “Wedding of the Year” performed by Eyal Golan and Itay Levi. The singer posted a story on his Instagram account, showing his computer screen where it was visible that the esteemed creator had already submitted a song to the selection committee.
- Penina Rosenblum: After the song she planned to send was disqualified before submission, the singer decided to submit another song to compete for representing Israel at Eurovision 2025. The singer and former Israeli Eurovision national selection contestant from 1983, who did not receive an official invitation from the committee, chose to submit a song nonetheless.
Committee Composition:
- Chairman – Director of the Corporation’s Music Stations
- Two radio representatives – Music editors chosen by the committee chairman
- Two television representatives – Head of Entertainment and Culture at IPBC and an additional representative of her choice
- Two Keshet representatives
Each committee member will vote based on professional criteria, including quality and originality of lyrics and melody, suitability for the representing artist and the Eurovision competition, potential success in Eurovision, appropriateness for representing a public broadcasting body, overall impression, and other relevant criteria as decided by the committee. Songs will be presented anonymously to ensure unbiased evaluation.
If the committee fails to find a suitable song, they may issue a public call for additional songs, choose a song published publicly after September 1, or select from songs submitted to the corporation for Eurovision participation between 2022-2024.
“HaKochav Haba” Collaboration
The IPBC continues its collaboration with Keshet 12 and “HaKochav Haba” program to select Israel’s representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel. This partnership has resulted in six consecutive qualifications for the final, with the highlight being Netta Barzilai’s victory with “Toy” in 2018, bringing Eurovision to Israel in 2019.
Yuval Raphael – Who are you?

Yuval, 24, from Ra’anana, lived in Geneva, Switzerland, during her childhood. She disclosed that she escaped from a Hamas terror attack on October 7th, during which grenades were thrown and shots were fired at a party. Many around her were killed, and she had to pretend to be dead to survive. What strengthens Yuval is music and advocacy for Israel. She has spoken in front of world leaders, met influential people, and even spoke at a Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva. She has become a focal point for international advocacy, presenting the true face of Israel and correcting the false image portrayed in the global arena. Her insistence on presenting the truth has made her a central and influential figure in both Israeli and global culture.
Yuval has never sung professionally and only started performing in front of audiences in recent months. The echoes of her performances quickly spread on social media, garnering warm praise and responses from viewers.
Yuval won first place in the TV show “HaKokhav HaBa for Eurovision 2025” after being chosen by the panel of judges and the home audience. She will represent Israel in Eurovision 2025, to be held in Basel on May 13, 15, and 17, in hopes of bringing Israel its fifth win in the competition.
Eurovision 2025: This is Israel’s 47th participation in Eurovision. Israel joined the competition in 1973 and has won it four times over the years. Israel’s last victory was at Eurovision 2018 with the song “Toy” performed by singer Netta Barzilai.
