This week, the song “New Day Will Rise,” to be performed by Yuval Rafael, who will represent Israel in the second half of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2025, scheduled for May 15 in Basel, Switzerland, was revealed. Why was Israel’s Eurovision Song Re-recorded?
Less than a day after the song’s release, it was revealed that Yuval Rafael would record a new version of the song to fix a pronunciation error that occurred in the Hebrew section of the song. In a verse from “Song of Songs”, “וּנְהרות” (U’Neharot) should be pronounced, not “וְנְהרות” (Ve’Neharot) as it was recorded and released. The singer recently visited the recording studio to fix the error. Many fans wondered if other changes would be made to the song after the re-recording, but they discovered that the song remains exactly as it was, except for the pronunciation correction. For now, it seems that “Kan” will not replace the music video uploaded to the official YouTube channels of “Kan” and Eurovision. The song has accumulated about 680,000 views on the “Kan” YouTube page and about 920,000 views on the official Eurovision YouTube page.
The decision came after a request from Dr. Avshalom Kor to “Kan”, after the song’s release, asking for the correction of a pronunciation error in the “Song of Songs” verse in the song. “This is not just any verse, it’s a verse that thousands of Israelis recite every Shabbat night, for 1400 years. And it’s such a beautiful verse – it’s good that the people of Israel will hear it in the right way,” said the Hebrew linguist and Israeli media personality.
No Changes Planned for the Eurovision Song Production
At the press conference following the song reveal broadcast, which was attended by the Euromix team, we asked music producer Tomer Biran for clarification, and he explicitly stated that no changes would be made to the song’s arrangement before Eurovision:
“At this stage, no. Only vocally (there will be more changes – G.S). As for the arrangement, everything was sent, and luckily on time!”
The producer further added when asked about a reference to the Eurovision song of Yuval Rafael:
“There was no reference, the song just hit me with its melody as it came, Keren on the piano, and it wasn’t even hard to produce it; it just flowed out of me in the studio. The song was made in two hours. We didn’t add much, we just fine-tuned it. We didn’t change the essence. Things that are created this way, I feel there’s a better chance that most people will connect with them.”
The Israeli Eurovision Song for 2025 – All the Details
The Israeli Eurovision song was revealed during a festive broadcast aired on the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation “KAN”, during which the creators of the song and the members of the committee who chose the song for the competition appeared. The broadcast was hosted by Hila Korach, and during it, Yuval Rafael performed alongside Israel’s Eurovision 2024 representative, Eden Golan, and together they performed the song “Hurricane.” At the end of the broadcast, the official music video for the Israeli Eurovision song was revealed.
What Does the Israeli Eurovision Song Mean?
The song “New Day Will Rise” addresses one of the most universal and profound themes – the life-giving power of love and hope. The lyrics speak of dealing with loss, separation, and pain, but also about the possibility of overcoming and renewing. The song conveys the belief that with every ending comes a new beginning, that pain will fade, and love will remain with us. Each verse of the song highlights the way hope and love can carry us even in times of darkness and pain.
What Does the French Verse in Israel’s Eurovision Song Say?
The French verse in “New Day Will Rise” differs somewhat from the English verses in terms of emotional approach. While the English verses emphasize the light that enters our lives even in tough times and the love that remains with us after separation, the French verse, “Et même si tu dis adieu, Tu ne partiras jamais,” focuses more directly on the spiritual presence of the beloved, stressing the idea that love stays even when we part ways.
Who Will Direct Israel’s Eurovision Performance?
The team directing Israel’s Eurovision performance, with Yuval Rafael performing the song, is composed of Shai Bondar, Yuval Cohen, and Yoav Tsafir. The three also collaborated last year with the song “Hurricane,” which earned Israel 5th place in the Grand Final.
