Eurovision 2026 winner DARA tops Spotify charts with “Bangaranga,” triggers Sofia Pride debate, and lands an official WWE collaboration.

Bulgarian singer DARA conquered the stage at the Eurovision 2026 in Vienna with her rhythmic song “Bangaranga“, which led her to a historic and first-ever victory for Bulgaria. Now, following the dizzying success at the contest, Spotify editors have featured the track in their annual list as one of the biggest hits of the summer.

The song is highly anticipated to become the definitive summer hit for good reason. As of June 2026, the track stands at approximately 37 million streams on Spotify, alongside roughly 20 million views for the Grand Final performance. The song has also transformed into a hit among non-Eurovision fans, soundtracking around 286,000 videos. It appears that a Eurovision song will centralize the charts once again this summer, after the Portuguese band Napa saw their Eurovision 2025 entry “Deslocado” accumulate over 100 million streams on Spotify last year. One day after the Grand Final, the song reached number one on the Spotify Daily Chart in no less than 11 different countries and climbed to number 12 on the Global Chart – the third-highest ranking ever for a song from the contest – following Måneskin and Loreen. Just one week after the final, the song amassed over 20 million Spotify streams.

Breaking Records and Topping Charts Across Europe

The song brought Bulgaria their first victory in the contest ever and also recorded the largest point gap between first place (Bulgaria) and second place (the Israeli entry). The track became the most successful winning song on the Apple Music charts on the day following the Grand Final. In addition to these records, the song made Bulgaria the first country ever to win after returning from a multi-year hiatus from the contest. The entry was the first since Eurovision 2017 to achieve the massive feat of winning both the jury vote and the public televote.

DARA Stirs Controversy and Claims International Awards

Furthermore, DARA has already managed to perform “Bangaranga” multiple times since the final. Among her appearances was a performance at Sofia Pride, which sparked anger among the more conservative citizens in the country and placed DARA at the center of a storm. DARA did not apologize for her participation and even chose to declare on her Instagram account:

“I will not stop or betray my values, and I will continue to publicly support the LGBTQ+ community.”

DARA also managed to perform at the music awards ceremony of Greece’s leading channel, the MAD VMA, which is considered one of the largest and most prestigious industry events in the Mediterranean region. DARA was not the only one to perform at the ceremony, as the Greek representative Akylas was also present at the event. At the ceremony, DARA won a special honorary Gold Record award from the organizers. In addition, she presented a special award on her behalf to Dimitris Kontopoulos, one of the songwriters of the entry — a miniature replica of the Eurovision trophy — as a token of appreciation for his work in the creative team behind the scenes of the Bulgarian delegation to the contest in Vienna. In a survey conducted in Bulgaria after the event, 67.2% of Bulgarians noted they are proud of DARA’s success, and 66.7% stated their attitude towards DARA is positive.

From the Eurovision Stage to the WWE Ring

“Bangaranga” has even reached professional wrestling, entering the WWE, when the Bulgarian wrestling star Miroslav Petrov shouted in front of the cameras: “I will do to you Bangaranga.” It was later revealed that DARA was thrilled by the gesture, having grown up alongside her brother as a die-hard fan of WWE. Moving forward, the event transformed into a particularly genius collaboration, and the official WWE store is now selling T-shirts with the caption “Bangaranga”.
