Luxembourg in Eurovision 2025: Singer Laura Thorn took the stage for her first rehearsal with the song “La Poupée Monte Le Son”. Stay updated with all the reports from Basel, Switzerland…
Luxembourg was the fifth country to hold a rehearsal for Eurovision 2025 today with a – performance. Luxembourgish singer Laura Thorn is the fifth contestant to rehearse today on the Eurovision 2025 stage in Basel, Switzerland, with the song “La Poupée Monte Le Son”. Laura Thorn will perform as song number 13 in the second semi-final, which will take place on May 15th in Basel. This year’s competition features 37 countries.
The song, performed in French, La Poupée Monte Le Son (“The Doll Turns Up the Sound”), is an upbeat and lively track that pays tribute to and continues the style of “Poupée de cire, poupée de son,” the legendary song that won Eurovision for Luxembourg, performed by France Gall exactly sixty years ago, in 1965.
Further details about Luxembourg’s performance
This year, Luxembourg sent exactly the kind of theatrical and rhythmic song needed after a break, and it is interesting to see how the staging has developed since the pre-Eurovision Luxembourg selection, the Luxembourg Song Contest. The answer is a lot. The “Poupée-Laura” concept, with male dancers performing 1960s-style movements referencing dolls, remains, but the ability to project huge LED screens on stage and on the backdrop has completely upgraded the performance.
Laura begins the song inside a pink-red 1960s-style dollhouse, with directed hands entering to reposition her during the opening. Five male dancers, dressed in red velvet outfits similar to those seen in the Luxembourg Song Contest, perform a precise dance in which Laura’s doll-like stiffness at the beginning gradually relaxes and becomes more natural and human. She leads them along the runway in the second part, consistently leaving the dollhouse so that the final section takes place on the main stage.
The story is also told through her outfit. The pink doll dress she wore in the national final was replaced by a much more sophisticated light pink dress with corset-style lacing, paired with silver thigh-high boots. Midway through the song, the pink dress is removed to reveal a sparkling silver dress underneath. This time, no additional dancers join; only Laura and her dancers perform a dance break that feels much more like a “dance break” compared to the original version. The song has always been fun, but this staging raises it to a new level of cohesive and powerful visual storytelling.
The photos from the rehearsal will be updated later.
Luxembourg in Eurovision 2025
“La poupée monte le son” (in English: “The Doll Turns Up the Sound”) is the title of the song to be performed by singer Laura Thorn, who will represent Luxembourg at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Laura’s song was written by Christophe Houssin and Julien Salvia, and also composed by Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal – this is these creators’ first song in the Eurovision competition. The song is performed in French.
The song is a tribute to the immortal song with which Luxembourg won Eurovision 1965, 60 years ago – “Poupée de cire, poupée de son“. The song deals with female empowerment and liberation from outdated and limiting social patterns. The overall message is a call for women to rise above limiting perceptions, make their voices heard, and take control of their lives:
Luxembourg is currently in 30th place in the betting odds for Eurovision 2025.
