Albania’s First Rehearsal: More Details

The footage released just minutes ago showcases the opening moments of the performance, featuring the face of an Albanian mother projected across the giant LED screen with a serious, almost worried expression. Beneath her stands Alis, behind him a walls of smoke, creating the feeling of a powerful maternal presence watching over him. The translated lyrics displayed on screen add an entirely new emotional layer to the performance, making it difficult to remain indifferent once the meaning behind the words becomes clear.

The combination of prayer-like vocals, haunting staging choices, and emotionally charged visuals creates a performance that cuts straight to the heart. As the first verse begins, the camera closes in on Alis, dressed in a shimmering black cloak that gives him an almost angelic appearance. By the time the released clip abruptly ends, viewers are undeniably left wanting more.

Strategic Subtitles: A Rare Theatrical Move

In a highly unusual move designed to ensure no viewer misses the emotional depth of the song, the Albanian delegation confirmed that English subtitles will appear on screen during the live broadcast, similar to the approach used last year in Basel. The decision highlights the delegation’s confidence in the power of the lyrics to resonate with audiences throughout Europe.

Although Israel’s representative Noam Bettan will not compete against him in the same semi-final, it is already becoming clear to many inside the arena that Albania could emerge as one of the standout entries of Eurovision 2026.

Secrets Shrouded in Mystery

Despite the impressive reveal, it appears that Alis and the Albanian team are still keeping several surprises hidden. Certain elements of the performance remain intentionally mysterious, wrapped in smoke and shadow. The sophisticated lighting design and the emotionally intelligent use of the “mother” concept leave audiences visibly moved and emotionally invested.

Vienna has already witnessed many rehearsals this season, but Albania’s performance is increasingly shaping up to be one that leaves no dry eyes on the night.

Could Alis become the surprise emotional phenomenon of Eurovision 2026?
