Rehearsals and Secrets on the Vienna Stage

The duo appeared to be in high spirits ahead of the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 12th. Senhit noted that rehearsals have been going exceptionally well: It was mostly technical stuff, but now we know everything, we are ready to party and we can’t wait to be on stage on Tuesday Boy George added that once the crowd joins them in the arena, “It’s going to be so gorgeous.”

When Shahar attempted to extract details regarding their Grand Final looks, asking if the outfits seen in the rehearsal clips were the final versions for the live broadcast, Senhit was quick to stop her with a smile: “It’s a secret baby, we can’t tell you.” Even when hinted that holographic elements might appear on stage, Senhit kept her cards close to her chest: “You never know, it’s a surprise.”

A Special Connection with Noam Bettan

The most compelling part of the interview occurred when the topic of the Israeli entry, “Michelle“, was raised. As previously noted in EuroMix coverage throughout the season, the duo from San Marino is firmly supporting the entry this year. Boy George shared that they had already met Noam Bettan a few days ago and spoke about the unique atmosphere backstage.

“I think the thing about Eurovision, everybody is quite supportive of each other,” Boy George remarked. “But you have to have a little bit of a competitive spirit, because we are performers and we want to have the best results. But I think everybody is really supportive of each other, it’s been a real revelation for me because I think it’s so kind.”

Senhit was equally enthusiastic, offering high praise for the Israeli artist: “I love the song “Michelle”, I really do! He is a great artist. I spoiled a little bit of the staging for myself and it is very cool.” She also added with a wink: “And he is a beautiful man too!”

“You can’t Vote for Yourselves, So Vote for Us!”

Just before concluding, when asked for a message to the audience in Israel regarding the voting, Boy George offered a winning argument: “Well, you can’t vote for yourselves, so vote for us!” Senhit joined in with a request for support: “We receive so much love, so we are very, very happy. Support San Marino!”

The true highlight, which left the interviewer stunned, came at the very end of the meeting. Boy George decided to surprise everyone by breaking into a moving rendition of the prayer “Shalom Aleichem”. His vocal performance of the traditional words, alongside his vocal support for Israel throughout the interview, concluded the encounter on a warm and inviting note. This gesture by the global pop legend serves as a significant display of hospitality, openness, and goodwill within the Eurovision community.

San Marino at Eurovision 2026

Superstar” is the title of the song that will be performed by Senhit, who will represent San Marino as song number 13 in the first semi-final on May 12th in Vienna, Austria. This marks the third time Senhit will compete in Eurovision, following her previous representations for San Marino in 2011 and 2021. In 2020, she was also selected to perform for San Marino, but her participation was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The song was written and composed by Senhit and Boy George, whose participation alongside Senhit in the contest is still surrounded by some uncertainty, together with several songwriters who have previously written Eurovision hits: Anderz Wrethov, Thomas Stengaard, Kill J, John Emil Johansson, and Jonathan Bellini. The song is performed entirely in English.

Eurovision 2026: This will be San Marino’s 16th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. San Marino joined the competition in 2008 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2019 when the singer Serhat finished in 19th place with the song “Say Na Na Na”.
