Sweden’s Eurovision 2026 representative Felicia lost her voice before the grand final after intense rehearsals and performances in Vienna.
With just two days remaining until the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final, the delegations that qualified from the first semi-final are now deep into intense and decisive preparations for Saturday night’s show, at the end of which one country will lift the iconic crystal trophy in Vienna.
Among the artists preparing for the final is Sweden’s representative, Felicia, who will compete with her song “My System“. The singer qualified for the Grand Final from the first semi-final held last Tuesday.
However, after weeks of nonstop rehearsals, promotional events, and her semi-final performance, the Swedish singer has now lost her voice and is currently under strict vocal rest, meaning she is unable to sing or even speak. Due to her condition, all interviews scheduled for yesterday and today were cancelled.
In an interview with the Swedish daily Aftonbladet, Felicia explained: “It’s the talking that’s the worst and it’s a disaster for me who hates being quiet. But it’s just following the advice I got from my singing coach, being quiet, resting and drinking water and luckily, I’m not sick.”
The Demanding Eurovision Schedule Takes Its Toll
According to the singer and the Swedish delegation, the exhausting Eurovision schedule contributed to the vocal damage. They claim the turquoise carpet events, constant singing, long days inside Wiener Stadthalle’s dry environment, emotional screaming, and endless interviews all played a role in harming her voice – precisely at the most critical stage of the competition.
The timing could hardly be worse for Sweden, which entered Eurovision week with high expectations from fans and bookmakers alike.
What Could Happen in the Grand Final?
The fact that no improvement in the singer’s condition has yet been reported is already raising concerns ahead of Saturday’s final. If Felicia’s voice does not recover in time for the live show, Sweden’s expected result could be seriously affected.
In fact, some Eurovision fans believe bookmakers may have overestimated Sweden’s chances even before the first semi-final performance. Immediately after the show, Sweden dropped to 12th place in the betting odds, despite being ranked 10th before the semi-final aired.
For now, Eurovision viewers can only wait and see whether the Swedish singer’s condition improves before Saturday night – and how it may ultimately affect Sweden’s live performance and final result at Eurovision 2026.
Sweden at Eurovision 2026
“My System” is the song that will be performed by the singer Felicia, which will represent Sweden in the Grand Final on May 16th, in Vienna, Austria. The song was written by Felicia Eriksson herself, together with Audun Agnar, Emily Harbakk, Julie Bergan and Theresa Rex. This is the first Eurovision entry by all songwriters. The song will be performed entirely in English.
Currently, Sweden is ranked 12th on the betting odds ahead of Eurovision 2026.
Eurovision 2026: This will be Sweden’s 65th appearance in the competition. Sweden joined Eurovision in 1958 and has won the contest seven times over the years. The country’s most recent victory came in 2023, when Loreen won with the song “Tattoo”.
