Greece’s Akylas suffers back injury after Eurovision 2026 semi-final, cancels interviews and social media activity ahead of Grand Final.

Just moments after qualifying for the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final, Greece’s representative Akylas has sparked major concern among delegations and fans, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled media interviews, suspension of his social media activity, and a significant reduction in his public appearances ahead of Saturday’s final.

This emergency protocol was triggered due to an injury. Earlier today, Akylas was interviewed by Wiwibloggs, where he revealed that he had suffered a back injury. Later, he was seen leaving the venue wearing a neck brace, most likely as a form of support and stabilization. The goal is clear – to give the singer maximum rest so he can return to the stage in the best possible condition and deliver his performance at its peak.

Akylas had also been scheduled for an interview with EuroMix today, but due to his condition, the beloved singer was forced to cancel. We wish him a full and speedy recovery and the best of luck for his performance in the grand final.

Before the injury, Akylas delivered a memorable performance in the semi-final. His vocal execution was precise, and the overall staging was widely praised. Greece is considered one of the strongest contenders in this year’s competition, and its qualification for the final was seen as fully deserved and warmly received.

Not the First Time: Another Setback for Akylas This Season

This is not the first injury-related setback affecting the Greek representative this season. As previously reported on EuroMix, a dramatic situation occurred shortly after his return from the promotional events in Finland.

At that time, Akylas landed in Greece suffering from a severe tonsillitis infection and a high fever. He could barely speak with concerned journalists at the airport and repeatedly apologized, saying: “I have a purulent tonsillitis… I can’t speak much, I’m really sorry.” His images connected to an IV drip in the hospital circulated online and raised serious concerns about his continued participation. However, as seen later, he made a full recovery within days and returned to rehearsals at full strength.

The Greek delegation remains optimistic, hoping that this time as well, short rest and physiotherapy treatment will bring Akylas back on track in time for the Grand Final.

We will continue to follow and update all developments regarding the Greek representative’s condition right here on EuroMix and on the app ahead of the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final.
