  • Erik Segerstedt: No stranger to Melodifestivalen, Erik previously finished third in 2009 as part of EMD and reached the Second Chance round in 2013 with Tone Damli.
  • New Girl Group: Reports suggest that Maria Persson from BlenderMaria Rolf from Titanix, and Sandra Estberg from Martinez have been chosen to form a new girl group specifically for Melodifestivalen 2025, aiming to strengthen the presence of female bands in the dance-band genre.
  • Linnea Henriksson: The Melodifestivalen 2020 host is also rumored to be participating this year. Linnea began her career on the reality show Idol in 2010, finishing fourth.

Melodifestivalen 2025 – What We Know So Far

This year, the Swedish national selection has attracted many artists, with reports of no fewer than 2,794 songs submitted for consideration. Thirty songs will compete in the contest, divided into five heats. In each heat, six songs will compete, with the top two songs advancing directly to the final. The songs ranked third will move to the Second Chance round, from which two more songs will be chosen. The Melodifestivalen final will feature 12 songs in total. The winner will be determined by a combination of international jury votes (50%) and public votes (50%). The heats will be held in different locations across Sweden over several weeks, as follows:

Ticket sales for Melodifestivalen 2025 will open on November 6. The hosts for the event will be Kristina “Keyyo” Petrushina and Edvin Tornblom.




Sweden in Eurovision 2024

“Unforgettable” is the name of the song performed by the duo Marcus & Martinus in the grand final of Eurovision 2024. The duo was chosen to represent Sweden at Eurovision after winning the Swedish pre-selection, Melodifestivalen. Sweden finished ninth in the final with 174 points.
