Following a high-profile withdrawal from Ukraine’s Eurovision pre-selection, the singer Teslenko appeared in San Marino’s casting lists. What are the Consequences? All the details are in the article!

Just days after a notable withdrawal from the initial candidate list for Ukraine’s Eurovision pre-selection, Vidbir 2025, the name of the singer TESLENKO surfaced in the casting list for San Marino’s Eurovision pre-selection, San Marino Song Contest. The Ukrainian singer, who started his music career several years ago, has become a prominent figure in the Ukrainian music scene in recent years.

Now, following his departure from Ukraine’s pre-selection, Teslenko’s name appeared on the casting list for San Marino’s contest scheduled for January 11, 2025, which was published today at 17:10. This move indicates a desire to professionalize and gain fame on the international stage, aiming to reach Eurovision under any flag. The opportunity in San Marino offers him a new and global platform that could enable him to reach new audiences and expand his influence in the music world.

This transition to San Marino’s selection could significantly impact Teslenko’s career trajectory, offering a broader stage and exposure to international audiences. This strategic move underscores the fluid nature of Eurovision national selections, where artists often switch countries to maximize their chances of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest.

TESLENKO’s withdrawal came after it was revealed that singer Enleo, who is also competing in the public voting round, listens to Russian songs. This revelation caused anger among TESLENKO and his team, who apparently advocate for a complete boycott of Russia. As a result, they decided not to compete in the Eurovision selection. TESLENKO’s management responded: “We cannot participate in a competition alongside someone for whom Ukrainian music is an embarrassment and a failure.” The withdrawal means that only ten contestants remain in the public voting round, competing for the last spot in the final:

  • Brykulets
  • Enleo
  • Fiïnka
  • Grisana
  • Mon fia
  • Ranwari
  • Starykova Hrystina
  • Yagody
  • Muyad
  • Sluhai Sashu

Ukraine in Eurovision 2024

Jerry Heil and Alyona Alyona represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Teresa & Maria.” The duo won the Ukrainian national selection “Vidbir 2024” and finished third in the Eurovision final with 453 points.

Their entry is notable for being the first since 2002 to place in the top 5 while performing second in the running order, a position traditionally considered challenging in Eurovision statistics.
