“The goal is to win people’s hearts”: Zoë Më, Switzerland’s Eurovision 2025 representative, unveils her surprising song rankings, the story behind her entry, and her vision for the stage in Basel.

For the first time since 1989, the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Switzerland, in Basel – and the local representative, Zoë Më, who will perform the song “Voyage” (translated as: “Journey”), is already captivating attention. The 24-year-old singer from Fribourg was selected on March 5th to represent Switzerland, and since then, her name has been a constant topic among Eurovision fans. In an interview conducted about a month before her appearance on Europe’s grand stage, she shared her feelings, expectations for the performance, the songwriting process, and even her personal ranking of favorite songs this year.

Zoë Më’s Approach to Eurovision: No Unnecessary Pressure

Despite this being Zoë Më’s first Eurovision participation, she appears unfazed by the magnitude of the event.

“I try to live day by day and not overthink what’s coming next, […] I tell myself that if I wake up in the morning excited to experience the day, that’s the best preparation I could ask for”.

Still, she does not hide her aspirations:

“The goal is truly to win people’s hearts. I want that, during my performance, people feel as if someone pressed the ‘pause’ button for three minutes – and at the end of my song, they breathe and feel ready to face the real world again”.

Beyond her desire to move the audience, Zoë Më admits this is also a deeply personal experience:

“I hope to truly enjoy myself on stage and not get too caught up in my own bubble at that moment”.

Zoë Më’s Top 3 Eurovision Songs of 2025

Zoë Më’s interest in Eurovision extends beyond her own performance. When asked about her three favorite songs this year, she answered candidly – while smiling that her list might still change:

“I have periods when I listen to certain songs a lot, then fall in love with others”.

Nevertheless, as of the interview date, these were her picks:

“Today, my top 3 are Italy. I really love the song – it doesn’t try too hard to stand out. Then Albania, which I’m loving more and more. And in third place – Latvia. I feel it’s a bit underrated. I love that it’s a girl group where everyone sings and dances. It reminds me of fairies”.

The Story Behind “Voyage”: Written in the Heart of the Forests

Her Eurovision entry, “Voyage”, was written far from the spotlight – on a quiet farm in Scotland.

“I was on a farm with only fir trees and sheep. I was pretty much alone with my piano. It was a very calm and quiet atmosphere”.

she recounted.

According to Zoë Më, the song’s message centers on the importance of care and compassion.

“Flowers are much more beautiful when you water them than when you pick them. People are a bit like flowers – if we’re kind to each other, we can all become the best versions of ourselves”.

The choice to write in French was also deliberate:

“I wanted to write a very gentle song—so I chose French”.

she explained.

A Bold Stage Vision

As previously reported, her performance promises to be creative and intriguing, thanks to a collaboration with one of Europe’s most provocative and fascinating creators, Theo Adams. Adams is a British stage artist, director, and interdisciplinary creator, renowned for his dark, theatrical, and emotionally stirring – sometimes even unsettling – aesthetic. In 2008, Adams founded the Theo Adams Company, a unique artistic collective of dancers, musicians, actors, and designers, working together on impressive theatrical projects in partnership with major institutions and brands, including Tate Modern, Saatchi, and Louis Vuitton.

According to Adams, the performance will focus on “embarking on an inner journey through trauma, hope, and beauty”, featuring daring direction, powerful visuals, and unexpected elements. The promises are big, and while full details of the concept remain undisclosed, it is known that the stage will blend a modern-gothic look, complex visual elements, and perhaps a level of theatricality rarely seen at Eurovision. Judging by Adams’s past work, the audience can expect an experience somewhere between an opera and performance art, with a touch of contemporary pop music.

Zoë Më remarked:

“My staging will be very different; there’s a desire to offer something bold. It will be a special show that’s a bit outside the norm”.

The choice of Theo Adams signals that Zoë Më is not coming “just to sing.” She aims to tell a story, break the routine – and perhaps, who knows, put Switzerland back in a promising spot on the scoreboard.

“I don’t want to go against the current. On the contrary, I want to strengthen what makes me unique, Zoë. In my view, a good Eurovision song is one that delves into the artist’s depths and amplifies that. That’s exactly what I want to do with my performance”.

she added.

She was chosen to represent an entire country, but aspires to touch the heart of each viewer individually. Zoë Më is not just coming to sing – she intends to stop time, turn three minutes into an eternal moment, and remind us all what compassion looks like in a noisy world. Will Europe fall in love with her as she dreams?
