Another beloved past star returns to the stage: Destiny, Malta’s representative for Eurovision 2021 (and the canceled 2020 contest) and winner of Junior Eurovision 2015, will take part in the guest performances at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.

In a joint announcement on social media by Destiny and the Swiss national broadcaster and the official Eurovision page, the singer revealed that she is expected to perform at Eurovision 2025. Destiny, who was chosen to represent Malta in Eurovision 2020 with the song “All of My Love,” did not get to perform that year due to the contest’s cancellation amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The following year, she returned to the stage with the song “Je me casse,” which earned her seventh place with 255 points – one of Malta’s best results in the past decade.

At this stage, it has not yet been announced in which of the three broadcasts of the competition Destiny will appear – one of the semi-finals or the grand final – but it is known that this is one of several guest performances by prominent past participants.

A Star-Studded Lineup of Past Eurovision Icons

Destiny joins a lineup of nostalgic and exciting names recently revealed to appear at the upcoming Eurovision. Among the artists are Jamala-Ukraine’s representative and winner of Eurovision 2016, Jørgen Olsen – winner of Eurovision 2000 as part of the Olsen Brothers duo, the band The Roop – Lithuania 2020 and 2021, Efendi – Azerbaijan 2020 and 2021, and Nemo – the most recent Eurovision winner representing Switzerland in 2024.

The Swiss national broadcaster, SRG SSR, is leading a broad trend of combining different generations of artists who have participated in the contest and left their mark. During one of the semi-final broadcasts, a joint and emotional performance will take place featuring four iconic Swiss representatives: Paola – Switzerland’s representative in 1969 and 1980, Peter, Sue & Marc – representatives in 1971, 1976, 1979, and 1981, Luca Hänni – Switzerland’s representative in 2019, and Gjon’s Tears – representative in 2020 and 2021. The four will perform together a festive medley dedicated to Switzerland’s Eurovision history.

Additionally, it was announced that the first semi-final will open with a large-scale performance featuring 45 artists showcasing various aspects of Swiss culture and society-the traditional, the modern, and the intergenerational. Other opening and interval acts are expected to be announced later. Eurovision 2025 promises to be one of the most invested and exciting contests in recent years-a competition that looks back with appreciation but continues to move forward into the present and future.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Switzerland’s 65th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Switzerland joined the competition in 1956, being one of the seven founding countries, and has won three times over the years. Its most recent victory was at the last Eurovision in 2025, with Nemo’s song “The Code.” This win follows Switzerland’s previous victory in 1988 with the song “Ne partez pas sans moi,” performed by international singer Céline Dion.
