The Eurovision 2025 season is approaching, and with it the main question: which artists will we see representing their country in the competition? In our series of articles, we will introduce you to several well-known artists from each country, whom we believe are worthy of representing their country and whom we would like to see on the Eurovision stage in Switzerland.
Each article will focus on four different countries and several artists from each country, so through these articles you can get to know many new artists, and perhaps we will even see some of them in future competitions! So who are the artists that could bring the best result for United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland & Portugal?
Who should represent United Kingdom?
The British national broadcaster BBC has confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2025 and will continue using the internal selection method employed for the past five years since 2020.
Yungblud: A 26-year-old English singer, songwriter, and musician born in Yorkshire, UK. He began his music career in 2017 with his debut single “King Charles,” quickly gaining attention for his energetic blend of rock, punk, and pop. Yungblud has achieved international recognition, especially among younger audiences, with his music addressing social and personal issues. His popular songs include “Parents” (2019), and he has collaborated with artists like Halsey, Avril Lavigne, Machine Gun Kelly, and French singer Louane.
BVDLVD: A 23-year-old British rapper and producer born in London. He started his music career as a teenager, uploading songs to SoundCloud and gaining attention for his unique blend of trap, metal, and electronic music. BVDLVD’s style evolved to incorporate rap, and he released his first song “TOXIC” in 2018. His breakthrough came in 2020 with his debut album “LUNATIC.” Among his most popular songs is “PUNK!” (2020), which garnered millions of listens across various platforms.
Finnegan Tui: A 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and music producer born in New Zealand and currently residing in London. Tui’s musical journey began at a young age, playing violin at festivals and experimenting with various music styles. In 2021, he released his first song “Once I’m Gone,” which achieved impressive success with over 800,000 listens. Tui’s unique music style combines traditional folk with electronic elements. In 2022, he released his debut and only album “ZEPHYR,” containing 7 songs.
Who should represent Spain?
The Spanish national broadcaster RTVE has confirmed its participation in the contest and will hold the Spanish Eurovision selection, Benidorm Fest, for the fourth time to choose the Spanish representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
Mayo: Álvaro Mayo is a 22-year-old singer and songwriter born in Spain. He gained public recognition when he competed in the Spanish talent show “Operación Triunfo 2023.” Since then, the emerging singer has been developing his music career, releasing his first song “Mis Nenas” earlier this year. Mayo released his first EP, “Season 1,” about a month ago and continues to establish his position in the Spanish music industry.
Tanxugueiras: A folk trio consisting of Olaia Maneiro, Aida Tarrío, and Sabela Maneiro, all in their early thirties and hailing from Galicia, Spain. The band was formed in 2016, initially focusing on traditional Galician folk music and playing the pandeireta (tambourine). They released their first album “Tanxugueiras” in 2018. The band’s breakthrough came in 2021 with the release of their popular song “Midas.” In 2022, the band participated in the Spanish Eurovision selection “Benidorm Fest 2022” with the song “Terra,” finishing third in the final.
Walls: A 24-year-old singer born in Murcia, Spain. He began his music career by participating in the Spanish freestyle-rap competition “FMS Spain,” where he finished second. Throughout his life, he continued to compete in rap battles against successful artists and over the years began to release his own music. In 2018, the singer released one of his well-known songs “Por Partes,” which garnered about 20 million plays on various music platforms.
Who should represent Ireland?
The Irish national broadcaster, RTÉ, has confirmed that Ireland will participate in Eurovision 2025 to be held in Basel, Switzerland. Ireland’s Eurovision selection for Eurovision 2025 will remain the “Eurosong” broadcast, as part of the “The Late Late Show” hosting program.
Ocean Tisdall: A 19-year-old singer-songwriter born in Wicklow, Ireland. He began his music career at a young age and quickly drew attention due to his unique voice and emotion in his songs. The singer released his first song “Broke Up With My Best Friend” in 2021 and continued to release covers of well-known songs. In 2022, he released his first EP “Boys Don’t Cry,” which achieved great success.
Conan Gray: A 23-year-old singer-songwriter of Irish descent born in California, USA. He began his music career in 2013 by posting vlogs and covers on YouTube while attending high school in Georgetown, Texas. The singer’s popularity grew gradually as he shared original content and personal content, amassing millions of subscribers on his channel. In 2018, the singer released his first EP “Sunset Season.” His first single “Idle Town,” released in 2017, garnered over 20 million views on YouTube. He’s known for the single “Heather” which became a worldwide trend on Tiktok.
Cian Ducrot: A 26-year-old singer-songwriter, producer, and musician born in Cork, Ireland. He began his musical journey at a young age, experimenting with different genres before finding his place in pop music. Ducrot’s career gained momentum in 2020 when he began to gain followers on social media and released his first successful song “Fucked up all the time.” His first EP, “Make Believe,” helped establish his position as a rising star in the industry.
Who should represent Portugal?
After confirming its participation in Eurovision 2025 in May, the Portuguese national broadcaster announces the return of the traditional Portuguese Eurovision selection “Festival Da Canção,” through which the Portuguese representative for Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland will be chosen. Will we see the following artists in it?
Blaya: Clara Rodrigues, better known by her stage name Blaya, is a 37-year-old Portuguese-Brazilian singer and dancer. Born in Fortaleza, Brazil, she moved to Portugal as an infant, yet she preserves Brazilian characteristics in her music and speaks the Brazilian dialect of Portuguese. While Blaya has no direct connection to Eurovision, she has broken through beyond it. In 2018, she released the song “Faz Gostoso,” which achieved tremendous success in Portugal, reaching the top of the Portuguese singles chart and even earning a cover by superstar Madonna, who included it on her album “Madame X.” Blaya is a first-rate artist capable of bringing intriguing colors to Eurovision that we haven’t yet seen from Portugal.
Calema: Calema is a musical duo formed by brothers Fradique and António Mendes Ferreira. The brothers were born in the African country of São Tomé and Príncipe and later moved to Portugal. They began singing at a young age as a hobby, and when they arrived in Portugal, they started pursuing music professionally. Calema is characterized by pop music with African influences from their home country and Angola, which was also a Portuguese colony in the past. The duo reached the peak of their success in 2017 when they released their song “A Nossa Vez,” which became the most-viewed video on YouTube that year. The duo also has previous Eurovision experience, competing in the 2019 Portuguese Eurovision selection “Festival Da Canção” with their song “A Dois,” making it to the final and finishing sixth.
Bárbara Tinoco: Bárbara Tinoco is a 26-year-old Portuguese singer. She gained fame in 2018 when she participated in “The Voice Portugal,” despite her unsuccessful audition where she failed to advance to the next stage. In 2020, she attempted to reach the Eurovision contest and represent Portugal by participating in the Eurovision selection “Festival Da Canção” with her song “Passe-Partout,” which became one of the favorite songs that season among Eurovision fans. Bárbara lost in the selection by two points, despite winning the public vote. Since then, Bárbara has become a judge on “The Voice Kids Portugal” and continues to release singles that have become hits in Portugal.

Eurovision 2025: The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Basel, Switzerland, on May 13, 15, and 17, 2025. The St. Jakobshalle arena, which will host the competition, is expected to accommodate about 12,000 spectators for each show. The contest will take place in Switzerland following the country’s third historical win with the song “The Code”, performed by singer Nemo. This will be the third time the competition has been hosted in Switzerland, after the contest was held there in 1956 and 1989.
